About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Dhammacakka Journal of Buddhism and Applied Buddhism is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by Lumbini Research Centre, Lumbini Buddhist University (LBU). It is dedicated to advancing research in Buddhist philosophy, applied Buddhism, and interdisciplinary studies that integrate Buddhist values into contemporary issues. The journal serves as a platform for scholars, researchers and practitioners to contribute original research, critical analyses and scholarly discussions that promote peace, ethical living and holistic well-being.

The journal welcomes submissions in the areas such as: Buddhist philosophy, history, literature, education, psychology, meditation, ethics, and the application of Buddhist principles in day-to-day life of human beings in modern societies. It aims to serve the academic community, Buddhist practitioners, and global scholars interested in transforming societies through Buddhis values and principles across the world.

By promoting scholarly discourse and research, Dhammacakka Journal strives to uphold the mission of Lumbini Buddhist University in promoting peace, harmony and human development through Buddhist wisdom and its practical applications.

Publication Frequency

Dhammacakka Journal of Buddhism and Applied Buddhism publishes two issues a year.

Open Access Policy

Dhammacakka Journal of Buddhism and Applied Buddhism provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Articles in Dhammacakka Journal are published under a Creative Commons Attribution NonCommercial NoDerivatives 4.0 International Licence (CC BY-NC-ND). This license enables reusers to copy and distribute the material in any medium or format in unadapted form only, for noncommercial purposes only, and only so long as attribution is given to the creator. 

Peer Review Process

The journal is peer-reviewed and follows the double-blind review system. The review process takes approximately one month. The final decision including acceptance for publication is made by the Executive Editor.
